What is Eye to I?

The Eye to I Intervention model was co-created by Applied Linguist, Sara Ann Schuchert, and Child Psychologist, Parul Gupta. We use our collective knowledge of child development, child language acquisition, functional linguistics, neuroscience, and therapeutic methodology to address the wholistic needs of all learners as well as those with Autism Spectrum Disorder and frequently associated diagnoses of ADD/ADHD and anxiety.

Eye to I combines play, language, social skills and sensory awareness to target foundational learning and interaction skills. It is applicable to children and young adults with language and cognitive differences, limited peer socializing, and social communication difficulties.

Eye to I therapy contributes to improvements in school performance, family interaction, peer relationships, career readiness and, most importantly, an increased sense of joy, ease, and purpose in daily life.

“We believe every person has a message to share and as therapists, parents and community members we can provide the tools to cultivate their message.”

- Sara Ann Schuchert & Parul Gupta

Therapy is tailored to the needs of each participant and the family with a focus on step by step skill acquisition that can be implemented and generalized beyond the boundaries of the therapy setting.

We use music, rhythm, as well as object and action play, imitation and pretend to develop skills in sharing emotion and interest. We recognize that communication is not just speaking scripted phrases – but rather ‘using everything I’ve got’ to communicate my message – my body, my voice, my eyes, and my interests. Eye to I therapy is about developing a space for intimacy and sharing between parent and child, between peers, and society at large and the individual. We strive to help our families and participants find unity with their child or teen and create an ‘Eye to I’ experience.
